TDRS/GTSE Christmas Special 2011: Out Now!

Well, here it is!

The Dark Railway Series has crossed over with another popular Youtube Series, "Gary The Steam Engine", to create this crossover Christmas Special, produced by Dark DJ Productions, with help and voicing work from Rhysicus Productions, as well as Guest Voicing by Daniel R Talbot.

The Special sees the Trio, Dave, Brian and Raymond, meeting the three main characters of Gary the Steam Engine, Gary, Freddie and Flying Scotsman, during the Winter of 1962.

Everything goes well, until Christmas Eve, when Dave must collect the Christmas Presents for all the engines on the line! Gary is convinced to go with him...

Watch to find out what happens!

I'd like to say a Big Thank You to Rhys Davies (Rhysicus), as this would not be possible without his help, and Daniel Talbot, who's voice work is always appreciated by me!

I know it is a bit early to be saying, but i'll say it anyway! Happy Christmas Everyone, and a Jolly Good New Year!

Cheers,

Dark.

"TDRS: Event Horizon" - Character Audition Competition

"TDRS: Event Horizon" is in need of some Voice Actors for several upcoming characters!

I have made this into a little competition, where people can respond to a specific video on my channel to audition for a part!

There are also three runner up prizes: The runner up for each character gets a minor role in the film, making 6 vocalists guesting from Youtube or elsehwere, as I already have 4 confirmed vocalists as of right now!

To take part, simply follow this Link

Cheers,

Dark.

"TDRS: Event Horizon" - Coming Soon

After Months of preparation and brainstorming, the script for the Dark Railway Series' very first full length film is completed!

Originally under the working title of "Origins", the script has changed many times throughout it's drafting, and I am now happy with the story I wish to present to my fans.

The film is to be titled "Event Horizon", after one of my own personal favourite films, and is also an obscure clue to the plot of this film...

I have got a group of hopefuls to do voicing in this film, and I will soon be announcing a competition to find Three more Vocalists for the film, which will be coming very soon!

For Now,

Dark DJ.

TDRS: Series Two Episode Three Uploaded!

Episode Three of TDRS Series Two is now live, everyone!

"Colin & The Coaches"

Though Dai has proven himself a useful asset to the line, Mr Dark is still in need of more engines.

After Dai is repaired, we are introduced to "Colin", an LMS 3F Tank, who has arrived to do odd jobs around the line.

He does his work well, impressing the other engines, and Mr Dark as well.

He is so impressed, that he asks Colin to do something he has never done before: Haul a Passenger Train!

But is he up to the job?

Sir Eustace Missenden: Rebuilt?

I have some very exciting news for TDRS!

"Sir Eustace Missenden" may reappear in the series soon, in rebuilt condition!

Bulleid Light Pacific Number 34090, "Sir Eustace Missenden", was one of The Dark Railway Series' most memorable characters, appearing in almost every episode in Series One, and was one of the first characters introduced, after Black Five Number 45101 "Dave" and BR Class 47 Number 47527 "Raymond".

He was a pompous unrebuilt Pacific, appearing in his hybrid SR/BR Livery, who generally irritated the other engines with his cocky, posh disposition!

However, he left the Dark Railway at the end of the first Series, returning to the mainline to haul expresses for British Railways. Whilst fans may not know the whole story, there was a good reason for this.

After some research of the character, a problem arose: The real locomotive was rebuilt at the very end of 1960, losing it's distinct Air Smoothed Boiler Casing and Bulleid Valve Gear to be replaced with a new, more powerful appearance and more conventional Walschearts Valve Gear.

My original plan was to write the character out of the stories at the end of series one, as hinted in Episode Three, where Eustace and Mr Dark discuss an "Offer": This was originally an offer for a rebuild by British Railways.

In the original scripts, Eustace would have had a proper "Leaving" episode, where he finally reconciled with the engines, especially "Raymond". He would have left for his rebuild and never return, remaining on the Mainline until withdrawn in the mid 1960's, as originally scripted for Episode Ten of Series One.

This was down to two factors: One, that I personally thought that historical accuracy regarding this engine would be appropriate. And secondly, because at the time of planning, there was no Rebuilt Light Pacific planned for or avaliable for the game.

Unfortunately, I became rather attatched to this character, and just couldn't stand to get rid of him. Though he left at the end of series one, my plan was to return him after a short hiatus, still in unrebuilt form, to annoy the engines once again!

However, a very interesting development is taking place...

"Digital Traction", renowned freeware and payware producer for the game I use to make the series, "RailWorks 3: Train Simulator 2012", are currently creating a brand new payware model for the game: A Rebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific!

After sending a friendly email, and sending some reference images of his Nameplate, DT has said that they would be happy to include Sir Eustace, in rebuilt form, in their upcoming pack, if possible!

This is fantastic news for the series, as now, Sir Eustace Missenden can make his long awaited return to the Dark Railway, in rebuilt form!

Cheers,

Dark.

TDRS: Series Two Episode Two Uploaded!

The second episode of TDRS Series Two is now live!

"Dave & Dai"

When an old 7F Locomotive called "Dai" arrives at the line, he is teased by the others for his age and condition.

He is upset, but can he prove to them that he is old, but reliable?

This is the last episode to be filmed right now using the new "TSX" Game Engine in RailWorks 3/Train Simulator 2012".

By going back to the default, none special effects game engine, I have noticed that, whilst we loose the lighting effects, we gain alot of FPS, so the game, and recording for that matter, become smoother.

Not to worry, the episodes will still be produced to my new high quality standard.

I hope you all enjoy episode 2, episode 3 will be on it's way very soon, as long as the game still behaves itself!!

Cheers,

Dark.

TDRS Series Two Begins!

The Dark Railway Series has finally returned!

After several teething troubles with RW3/TS2012, I have finally got it working to a standard I can use. So, here we go again, with TDRS hitting YouTube once more!

In Tonight's Episode, the debut of Series Two and the use of the upgraded RailWorks, we are travelling back in time, to the beginning of 1961, where the engines on the line have been repainted and upgraded, except for Dave.

However, he gets something he didnt bargain for!

Will he accept his new changes? And can he save the day as well?

Watch to find out:

"The Unveiling of Dave"

"Dave", the Dark Railway's Flagship Locomotive (and co-star of "The Dark Railway Series") has recieved a very special repaint from my good friend "Bristol Castle".

"Dave" now has Nameplates!

I feel this is amusing for a Black Five, seeing as most others have a very distinguished name, whilst Dave's just reads "Dave"! Classic!

This BR Green Version will be joined by a BR Black version. Both colours will have a plain tender and a BR Logo'd tender, hopefully, for my future plans for TDRS.

I hope you enjoy the reskin, and I hope your all excited for Series Two of TDRS!

Thanks,

Dark.

The Dark Railway Series / Gary The Steam Engine Crossover Trailer

This excellent little trailer was created by Rhysicus, one of my greatest inspirations.

It basically involves GTSE Characters Gary, Freddie and Flying Scotsman meeting TDRS Characters Brian and Raymond, as Freddie meets his twin, Brian, for the first time since being built!

I must set this warking: Viewer Discretion is advised, as there is some swearing in this Trailer. But other than tha, please enjoy the traler, and be sure to check out Gary The Steam Engine too!

Thanks,

Dark DJ

Proud to be supporting "Gary The Steam Engine" also!

TDRS Updates: 13/08/2011

Hi All,

Some of my viewers may have seen that I have uploaded some new videos between Series One and Series Two. These are to fill the gap between the two series', as I am going to wait until RW3 is avaliable to press on with production of the main series.

The New Videos include:

"TDRSketches" No 1: "Brian & The Bank Loan".

The first of hopefully many sketches to do with Characters and Locations in the Dark Railway Series.

In this Sketch, Brian attempts to get a Bank Loan, but fails dramatically!

"TDRS Trailer for "Rhysicus".

Created for Rhysicus to advertise the Series on his own channel. I am very grateful for this, as well as his continued support of the Series' development.

This random clip includes test shots from the Series, as well as one of my own Songs, entitled "GLaDOS".

"TDRS: Series Two New Characters".

The first true Trailer for TDRS, advertising the New Characters that will be introduced in Series Two!

These include Colin, the 3F Tank, CJ, the Stanier 8F, Allan, the Class 08, Howard, the Class 55 "Deltic" and a Secret Character...

"TDRS Specials: The Visitors"

A Special Episode of TDRS, featuring voicework from AfroDan (Who also plays "Dan The Diesel" in episodes 6-8) and Eraslayer (Who will be getting a starring role in the series soon.)

You can also click on the title of this post to go straight to the Website, where the new videos (and pictures, eventually) can be found.
